FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHEN APPLYING FOR FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Who can apply?
Southwestern Illinois College students and prospective students who live
in Community College District #522. There are a few exceptions to this
policy and it is noted in the scholarship's criteria.
Sorry, but you cannot apply for scholarships supported by a relative, your employer or the employer of an immediate relative.
Are there any grade point or enrollment requirements?
Minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 = 'A' scale)
and enroll at
least part-time (min. 6 hrs.) each semester.
Some scholarships require a higher minimum GPA and/or full-time
(min.12 hrs.)
enrollment.
How many and what kinds of scholarships are
there?
Over 200 scholarships
Individual awards range from $100 to $5,000 annually. The diverse criteria
reflect the preferences of the individuals, businesses, clubs and organizations
that support these privately funded awards.
• Scholarships for returning adult students, high school graduates, and SWIC transfer students.

How many scholarships can I apply for?
You are encouraged to apply for as many scholarships as you are eligible but please submit only one application. Recipients can receive only one Foundation scholarship per semester.
Is there a deadline to apply?
For best selection opportunity, apply between January 1 and March 1. Applications will be accepted until all scholarships have been awarded.
How are scholarships recipients selected?
More than 50 different selection committees and/or high school officials
participate in the review of applications.
